Tour de France 1

Looks like thats pretty much it for Cadel Evans's defence of his Tour title. Dommage, but Wiggins is in imperious form and has an incredibly strong team around him so it was always going to be an uphill struggle (pun intended). At least I won't be sneaking a glance at the online updates of the current stage every few minutes as I have been for most of this week. In any event it is always brilliant to watch on TV if only for the majestic backdrop of the various faces of France it presents.
A wonderful aside by a local TV commentator, as the peleton rolled through an ancient village packed out with cheering spectators, to the effect that "the great things about the Tour are that is comes to your house and its free".
